What is a reference image?

A reference is a single locked image of a character, prop or place. Every keyframe and every clip that features that character is generated from the reference, which is what stops the face, hair, wardrobe and colour palette drifting between shots.

Do I have to upload a photo?

No. You can describe a character in plain language and let Sheeeit design them for you, or upload a photo you own the rights to. Both routes end in the same place: one saved reference image for that character.

What does locking a character do?

Accepted Answer

Locking freezes the reference so later edits, retakes and regenerations reuse it instead of reinventing the character. Uploading or generating a reference locks the character automatically; you can unlock deliberately from the Lock button if you want a fresh look.

My film looks wildly inconsistent — why?

Accepted Answer

Almost always because no characters were defined, or a character was described but never locked with a reference image. Add each recurring character in the Cast step, generate or upload a reference, confirm it is locked, then regenerate the keyframes.

Can I change a reference after some shots are rendered?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Unlock the character, set the new reference, lock it again, then regenerate the keyframes for the shots they appear in. Already rendered clips keep the old look until you re-render them.

How do I create a character on the platform?

In the Cast step, add the character with a name and a short description, then press Cast this character. Sheeeit generates three character design sheets in your project's style, you pick one, and it is saved as the reference and locked.

What if I don't like any of the options?

Accepted Answer

Press Recast to generate a fresh set. Tightening the description — age, build, wardrobe, distinguishing details — makes a much bigger difference than regenerating repeatedly.

When should a character be locked?

Accepted Answer

Before their first appearance. If a character is still unlocked when keyframes are drafted, that shot has nothing to anchor to and the look will drift.

How many characters can a film have?

Accepted Answer

As many as the story needs, but lock every character who appears more than once. One-off background figures can be left to the model.

Where does dialogue come from?

Accepted Answer

The shot plan holds a dialogue line and a voice-over line per shot. The AI drafts them from your story, and every line is editable — rewrite anything before you render.

How do I keep a character's voice consistent?

Assign a voice to each character once. That voice is reused for every line they speak in the film, so the performance stays consistent across shots and across retakes.

Why did I hear the line twice, in two different voices?

The video model sometimes bakes its own speech into a clip. Sheeeit now suppresses speech in the animation prompt and drops the clip's built-in audio whenever a recorded voice-over exists for that shot, so only your chosen voice is heard.

My voice-over gets cut off at the end of a shot.

Accepted Answer

The shot is shorter than the line. Drag the shot box on the timeline to lengthen it in one-second steps, or shorten the line. Shot durations can also be snapped to the measured length of the recorded speech.

A name is pronounced wrong.

Accepted Answer

Add it to the pronunciation dictionary with a phonetic spelling, then re-record that line.

How are sound effects handled?

Each shot carries its own SFX description in the plan. Those cues are generated as short effects and placed against the shot, alongside an optional ambience bed that runs underneath for room tone or exterior atmosphere.

Can I add music?

Yes. The Score step at the end drafts a music brief from your images, story and running time and generates a track — or you can upload your own songs and use those instead. Music is optional.

Will music drown out the dialogue?

Accepted Answer

No. The mix ducks the music and ambience under spoken lines automatically, and the final cut fades to black and out at the end.

Can I re-do the audio for one shot only?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select the shot on the timeline, adjust its dialogue, SFX or retake notes, and re-render just that shot. The rest of the cut is left untouched.

Will a refresh lose my work?

Accepted Answer

No. A hard refresh only reloads the app files. Your story, cast, shot plan, keyframes and rendered clips all survive it. Clearing site data or using a private window is what removes browser-held media.

Can I pick up on another device?

Your plan is saved to your account and follows you anywhere. Keyframes and rendered clips are held in the browser you rendered them in.
